Film and video production is the process of creating a motion picture film. This process consists of the activities from the initial development to the final distribution stage. While the process differs from one production company to another, there are certain stages through which film and video production goes. Typically, there are the pre-production, production, and the post-production stages. Though the production stage is the occasion when the actual filming takes place, the other stages, particularly the pre-production stage, significantly influence the entire process of film and video production. The pre-production stage is concerned with the development and revising of the script. Budgeting and financing decisions are made at this stage. More time spent on planning and designing the process helps with keeping costs low during the entire course of the process. Scheduling, casting, and set construction are completed during this stage. The production stage is when the equipment needed for filming is set up and appropriate lighting and audio devices are put in place. This is the phase of principal photography, when the actual filming takes place with the director of the film overseeing the operations. This is arguably the most critical and expensive phase of the production stage. Generally, the start of the phase of principal photography signals that the production of the film would, in all probability, be completed. During the post-production stage, those sequences or scenes that were missed during the phase of principal photography are shot. Film editing and the addition of visual effects are done during this stage. Also, sound editing, musical scoring, and enhancing with sound effects are completed during this stage. The culmination of the entire film and video production process is when the film is distributed for marketing.
Santa Brought you a Digital Camera--Now What? Although the final figures aren’t yet tallied, the 2006 holiday season was a very good one for digital cameras. Chances are you either received one… or you gave one! So, now that you’re shooting away, what do you do with all the images? If you don’t know, you’re not alone! Millions of digital photos are taken every day, with the figure growing exponentially. The biggest problem most of us face is storage. What to do with all of these photos? The best time to start organizing your photos is before you have them spread out all over the place. Organizing the digital images into folders on your computer’s hard drive is one option—with two major dangers: If the hard drive crashes, all of your images could be lost forever. And, images take up a lot of hard drive space, making your drive more likely to crash! So, you need to back up those images. You can get a backup program, and back up of all the photos on CDs. Great… unless you lose the CDs… or have a fire, flood, hurricane or earthquake. Again, your family’s most precious possessions—your photos—are lost forever! The same is true for those who simply take the memory cards to their local photo kiosk, print the pictures, and erase the card to re-use. This is even worse than the old film way of doing things because you don’t have the negatives in the event something happens to the prints. So, some people just keep piling up the memory cards! Not only is this impractical—you have no idea what pictures are on each card—it’s also ridiculously expensive! South Florida based Legacy Group Unlimited has the solution! Legacy will show you how to Preserve, Organize, Share and Enjoy your photos… both the new digital ones and the old paper photos that are rapidly fading, peeling and in danger of being destroyed. It’s a free, user-friendly service that gives everyone 5GB of storage (that’s 2-5000 photos, depending on image size), a free password-protected website, a no-nonsense, no-kidding, never delete your photos guarantee (even if you never purchase a single print!), the ability to share the photos you want to share with whomever you want to share them—anywhere in the word…also for free!
