The process of video production is one that has advanced a great deal over the decades. In years gone by, video production used to be the preserve of far fewer companies, as the equipment required through the entire process was very expensive, and indeed there were fewer outlets for videos to be seen anyway - in the mid eighties, for example, there were just 4 channels in the UK. Now of course, there are a huge number of TV channels specialising in everything from rock music to weddings. In this article we'll look as how video progressed over the years and what these videos are used for.

Much of video production is still carried out for use on television, and it could be argued that finding viewers for a niche market is easier because there are so many specialised channels. But there is the growing possibility of the internet; so many people now surf the net on a regular basis and even if they do not intend to buy a product over the net they may well look for what they want before going to a real shop to buy it. With so many people on the net, it is a good idea to invest in video production.

The video creation process starts with an idea; this idea could be from a company's marketing department, or it could be from the video creation company. Then the script is written and refined, before actors or voice over artists are found to play the various parts or part. Suitable locations or studio facilities should then be sought before the production proper begins. Any good video production company will have all the equipment required in order to film and record sound. Once the filming is complete, it is on to the editing stage, which might involve the addition of visual or sound effect.s

The production of video is of great use to modern business because it presents a very accessible way to promote a product, cause or service. He directs movie and crap and short films etc.. He has an old crappy computer and I would like to get him one that has a lot of memory , easy to tote..etc.. At the very least, use some powder on their faces to counter the glare of the lights.

Film and video production is the process of creating a motion picture film. This process consists of the activities from the initial development to the final distribution stage. While the process differs from one production company to another, there are certain stages through which film and video production goes.

Typically, there are the pre-production, production, and the post-production stages. Though the production stage is the occasion when the actual filming takes place, the other stages, particularly the pre-production stage, significantly influence the entire process of film and video production.

The pre-production stage is concerned with the development and revising of the script. Budgeting and financing decisions are made at this stage. More time spent on planning and designing the process helps with keeping costs low during the entire course of the process. Scheduling, casting, and set construction are completed during this stage.

The production stage is when the equipment needed for filming is set up and appropriate lighting and audio devices are put in place. This is the phase of principal photography, when the actual filming takes place with the director of the film overseeing the operations. This is arguably the most critical and expensive phase of the production stage. Generally, the start of the phase of principal photography signals that the production of the film would, in all probability, be completed.

During the post-production stage, those sequences or scenes that were missed during the phase of principal photography are shot. Film editing and the addition of visual effects are done during this stage. Also, sound editing, musical scoring, and enhancing with sound effects are completed during this stage. The culmination of the entire film and video production process is when the film is distributed for marketing.

A guide to the best web sites that will enable you to convert your video into cold, hard cash

Are you a moviemaker or video maker? Have you been creating and posting videos to sites like YouTube, Metacafe and MySpaceTV video? You have been getting lots of great feedback, viewers have been favoriting your videos and sharing them among their friends, and maybe now you are thinking, how do I make some money on this?

Or maybe you are an upcoming video producer, shooter or editor. You recognize that the web is the wild frontier of video and film and you want to get a piece of it. For the professional video or filmmaker, the creator of short videos or independent films, the best choice is to hook up with a major content provider that already has a presence on the web as well as in broadcast. Companies like Atom Films, Break, iFilm and the My Damn Channel all buy and license video streaming content from professional video makers. These web video distributors license your videos to other content companies and also exhibit your film on their Internet site, sharing the various advertisings and licensing revenues they get with you.

There are some sites that are actually pay per view and work best for content that is either informational like “how to do it” videos or travel videos, or contain “special content” that can not be easily accessed elsewhere. Some of the leading sites for this are Veoh, Guba.com, BrightCove, VideoJug and ExpertVillage. At ExpertVillage, you can earn $100 to $1000 for each how-to video. The videos must be assigned first, focus on a specific topic, and consist of about 15 segments of one to three minutes each, featuring an "expert" on a given subject.

If you are running a business and want to promote it via video, you have a few options. You could use one of the pay per view services to distribute educational videos that you produce. You could distribute and re-purpose your TV and cable commercials by posting them to one or more of the “free” video posting sites, or you could actually create a “viral” video that drives traffic to your site.

A great example is the “Will It Blend” series of videos by a small company known as BlendTec. Originally done as a one off joke video featuring Blendtec CEO Tom Dickson and his blending antics, it turned viral. The company followed up with an almost endless series of videos of him grinding up objects of all types and sizes, from marbles to an iPhone to a rake handle. It has become a wonderful advertising and promotional medium for their company and now almost everyone knows who they are.

Make Money with Online Music Videos

Many musicians are using web videos to promote themselves, their bands and their music. These can be a great way to build a new audience and get music enthusiasts exposed to their work without having to go through the music industry machine. Musicians can add links to their web sites on their videos to drive interest, or actually have roll-over promo appear when a web visitor checks out their video.

Maybe the most interesting channel to make money with your Internet video is by using sites that allow you to post almost any kind of video you created.

It can be a sophisticated, dramatic piece or a video clip snippet captured from your camcorder or your video phone. As long as you created it, you can make money from it. Once it is posted, whenever someone clicks on it and watches the video, you get paid. It’s all about driving content and eyeballs. Some interesting sites include YouTube, LuluTV, Flixya, Magnify.Net, Revver, BlipTV and many others. Also check out the many how to video sites like ExpertVillage and HowCast.

For example, BlipTV - Blip TV offers a 50/50 revenue share with the advertising that is streamed with your video. Blip TV says, “Blip.tv has built an open advertising marketplace where you can pick the video advertising company that works best for you. If you've got a hit show we'll even go out and meet with media buyers directly to get you a real, honest-to-goodness high-end sponsorship.”

Another option is YouTube. They recently announced that they will start running ads on their videos and will be sharing the revenue with the content providers. Check out this news story from Yahoo News and A P.

Revver - Once you upload a video to Revver, they attach an ad and a unique tracking technology. Any ad revenue generated by the video is

then split 50/50 between you and Revver. According to Revver, “Since ads are attached to the video itself and dynamically served wherever the video travels, there's no restriction on how your videos are distributed. The more people email your video, post it to other websites or download it from P2P networks, the more money you could earn.”

This is interesting. Revver also pays you for sharing other people’s videos on the Revver network. You can earn 20% of ad revenue for sharing videos by other Revver members. The remaining revenue is split 50/50 between the maker and Revver.

You Got to Promote Your OnLine Video

Once you have your videos uploaded, you also need to promote them and tell the world they are out there. For example, one of my favorite sites is French Maids TV - The Viral Video of “How To’s” by French Maids. Their videos are everywhere – on Revver, on BlipTV, on YouTube, etc.. According to Tim Street, creator and executive Producer, not only do they get paid to create these “viral” videos by each show’s tech sponsors, they collect thousands of dollars each month by links on Revver and similar web sites.

These shows combine a lot of humor and a bit of sex to promote the product or service featured on each clip. In addition to these natural hooks, he also promotes the show using RSS and podcast directories.

Tim said, “You need to make sure that you create a RSS Feed - a podcast of your videos. Then you need to get listed on all the podcast directories including the most important one of all, the one that can change your life forever, the one and only iTunes Store! Seriously iTunes has done more to promote French Maid TV than any other thing out there. It took French Maid TV a month to get listed on the iTunes Store. Three days later French Maid TV was number one and we had twenty thousand subscribers.”

There is a lot of money to be made in online video. Whether you are just uploading short clips captured by your camcorder phone, creating infomercials or how to videos, or producing creative and funny short films or indie full-length features, the online market is hungry for content. What to do When Kids Go off Their Meds: Brain-based Learning Strategies for ADD/ADHD

Steven Nissen, a prominent Cleveland Ohio Cardiologist recently prodded the FDA’s Advisory committee to put a black box warning on Ritalin, warning of potential heart danger. Why? From 1999 to 2003, 81 deaths and 54 nonfatal cardiovascular events such as heart attacks have possible links to Ritalin and similar drugs.

During the same period 78 million prescriptions were written for children up to the age of 18. Today two million kids a month take these drugs.

These are startling statistics to put it mildly! Assuming Nissen is correct, Ritalin is a pretty dangerous method of improving brain-based learning.

Now before I go any further with this story, please do not take a child off their ADD medication or suggest to a parent that such should be done. I am not a medical doctor. I do not prescribe. If you want to look into lowering a dosage or stopping a child’s medications, you must talk to a doctor.

What does this story mean in terms of ADD behavior at home and in the classroom? How does it affect brain-based learning? I predict that anxious parents and doctors are going to take kids off their meds. Now what are we going do with 2 million hyperactive kids!

For years, we haven’t had to take responsibility for helping these kids or keeping ourselves from going crazy trying to keep some kind of order in the classroom and at home. The drugs did it for us. Now we may be on our own.

Here are ten brain-based learning strategies to help you and your kids cope:

1. Decrease sugar including drinking fruit juice. Cut down on bread and pasta, esp. that made with white, processed flour.

2. Limit TV and video games, especially TV and games that have lots of flashing lights.

3. Help them get organized. Keep a schedule and be consistent.

4. To help with reading focus, let kids read aloud and record their voice. You could read something yourself or purchase a "book on tape." Now they can read along while listening. If they can't sit still for the whole tape, let them listen while moving around. Listening skills are a necessary ingredient for good reading.

5. Practice deep breathing. Kids can even be taught a simple form of meditation which is nothing more than watching one’s breath.Even getting more oxygen to the brain is a brain-based learning technique.

6. Cross right ankle over left and then give yourself a hug by crossing arms across the body, left over right. Reduces the stress in the central nervous system. Try it yourself.

7. Decrease visual distractions in children’s rooms and at school. Fewer pictures, mobiles, toys. Less stuff.

8. Exercise: play, run, skip, insist on recess at school.

9. Do Brain Gym®. See www.braingymclasses.com. Some kids have gone off their meds or at least had doses reduced by doing Brain Gym. Another very effective brain-based learning strategy.

10. Eat more foods with Omega-3 fatty acids like wild salmon, sardines, tuna, flaxseed, flaxseed oil. Take fish-oil supplements. Omega-3 fatty acids increase the production of neurotransmitter chemicals just as Ritalin does.

Brain-based learning strategies include attention to what we feed our brains and how that food affects the brain's neurotransmitters.

Using these teacher resources and parenting tips will help you help children get control over ADD/ADHD, settle down, and learn more easily.

This is the kind of business people dream and fantasise about. Facebook was launched in February 2004. In November 2007 it was reported that Microsoft bought a 1.6% share of the company for $240 million. You can do the sums to check out how much the market seems to think Facebook is worth now, in just under four years.

So you think you might want to do something similar. There is even software available, called Ning, that can get you started. You won't need to employ a galaxy of developers to set it up, which would mean that you wouldn't need to go cap in hand and find some venture capital. But if you did want your own developers and the whole story to go with it, about $50 million would do nicely.

Of course by now there are hundreds of competitors out there. But that's no problem. With the masses of people on the internet and the numbers increasing rapidly, there will be some interest group out there in cyberspace who could be served by setting up an online community. Do remember that clever thinking by Chris Anderson on The Long Tail theory.

A quick think, and here's one for you, free to use. A social network site that caters to people who love dressing up as pirates and speaking the pirate lingo. This group would like to live pirate lives for more than just one day a year, on international Talk Like a Pirate day September 19. You are sure to think of many yourself.

By now you will be impatiently tapping your fingers on the desk. Where is this free advice? So here it is, and you can thank me later, once you have made your mega millions. Once your social network site is up and it has a few thousand members, open it up to outside developers.

Is that it, I can hear the chorus. This hardly sounds like a magic formula. But it is. The business giants of this century, present and future, will be the ones who open up their business to outside participants. It really makes sense, and in any case why do it all yourself when there are so many willing participants out there?

For some light hearted fun, watch the video on YouTube where you will find Steve Ballmer making that precise point. He just went a bit overboard! Ballmer is CEO of Microsoft and his little dance and scream routine was all about celebrating developers.

External developers in this context are individuals or companies who develop products to run with, or enhance, ones core products. Developers do this at risk to themselves, investing their resources into projects which they hope will be popular with the same clients that, as an example, Microsoft's products serve.

Facebook has done just that by launching an API this year. It certainly made me sit up and think that social networking could be around much longer than I originally had thought. The purpose of social networking had evaded me. After all I have been a Facebook member since the beginning of the year and have, so far, accumulated all of 17 friends, of which only one is a proper friend! Hardly a peak user.

In techie terms an API, the acronym stands for application programming interface, is a source code interface. For us amateurs it means that it provides the parameter to allow other developers to write little applications that can run on the mother ship, so to speak. As an example, a developer has written a software application that allows one Facebook user to play scrabble with another Facebook member. This application plugs onto Facebook's software.

This kind of participation creates, in the case of Facebook, a bigger buzz, more fun things to do, greater interactivity with your friends, in other words a whole new fun time to be had. And all this at no major development cost to Facebook, that is at no more cost than they have had to spend to develop their own bits and pieces.

Microsoft for instance does the same in providing the API for developers to write their software to run on MS Windows. This means that companies such as Adobe will develop their Flash software to run on Vista. And this doesn't cost Microsoft anything. At the same time it adds immense value to the operating system.

This sounds so logical, one would think. However, have a look at some industries and instances where this is not happening. The mobile phone industry is particularly locked up to outsiders. This has meant that the development of the phone technology and services offered to users has crept along very slowly.

With the huge number of users worldwide, the mobile phone market is certainly large enough to make it worthwhile to develop large number of additional products. But what is available? Nice little pouches, fancy earphones? Even Apple, who knows the value of external developers, has buttoned down its iPhone.

The music, film and broadcast industries are similarly insulating themselves from anybody who is encroaching on their turf. Jealously they protect their industries and their intellectual property. In this way it will surely contribute to their demise. Protecting what you have rather than encouraging people to develop for it, and in this way finding new ways to do business, will be a business killer in this society where the digital revolution has allowed the sharing of everything.

le the entertainment industry tries to rein in the likes of Napster and YouTube, are they not missing the boat? Instead of seeing what the digital era can do to enhance their business they are trying to erect barriers.

So if you are considering setting up a social networking site, or in fact are considering any business venture, keep it open to everybody. Sure, some people will try and take you for a ride. But the benefit of having many brains and energies participate in your venture will far outweigh any little bits of theft perpetrated by the trolls out there.
